World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.

This is more of a personal post than a professional one, but it is World Down Syndrome Day, and in the spirit of my professional commitments to advocacy and raising awareness, I want to celebrate Malakai, my son.

Time flies past, but there isn't a day goes by that I am not proud of this young man. Happy World Down Syndrome Day beautiful boy.

The theme for this year's celebrations is 'Don't assume'. If Malakai has taught me anything, it is exactly this. I NEVER assume he CAN'T. Other than societal limitations that are imposed upon him, this boy CAN.

He is kind, affectionate, and a clown. I am privileged to have been his mummy (no longer mummy, but mum) for 15 years. So many tears, and challenges, but much more happiness, love and laughter.

If you don't know Malakai; this is him in a nutshell.

Dinosaurs, Super Heros, Restaurants, Judo, Drawing, anything to do with Water, Bilingual, and a fierce defender of his sister.
